Teens need to reduce their consumption of junk food and start eating healthier. Most teens believe that consuming foods with sugar or those that have a nice flavor is good for their bodies because it provides them with nutrients, but this is not entirely accurate.
For example, if you eat a doughnut, it will give you energy for about ten minutes, but then it just makes your stomach hurt, and it is also not healthy. On the other hand, if you eat a bowl of fruit and a sandwich, it gives you the right nutrients, and it is healthy and makes you fully energized for multiple hours.
According to Michigan State University, “More than 80% of U.S. teens follow an unhealthy diet.”
Many parents do not care what their kids eat, and they also eat too much junk food. Some parents don’t realize the type of food that kids are putting into their bodies, and don’t realize what effects it has on their bodies. Adults need to understand what food they are putting into their own bodies as well. They can’t tell their own kids to eat healthier foods if they are eating just as bad amount of junk food.
According to the World Health Organization, “A healthy diet comprises a combination of different foods.”
A healthy diet would be foods that give you the right amount of nutrients and a variety of foods at each meal from every food group. Fruits and vegetables: You should try and eat at least 3 servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Protein: You should eat 2-3 servings of protein a day, which includes fish, poultry, eggs, beans, and nuts. Whole grains: You should eat at least 6 servings a day, which includes rice, wheat bread, pasta, and oats. Some other good things you can do are limit processed foods, choose more foods that are low in sodium, and make sure to include rich fiber foods, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables.
All of these facts should help people learn, if teens start eating healthier foods, they can be stronger and always feel their best.
