OPINION: ‘Tis the season?

As October suddenly ends, some people start packing away all the Halloween costumes and decorations. Those people now begin to bring out the Thanksgiving decorations and begin to prepare for the big day of stuffing their stomachs and screaming at the T.V as they root for their favorite teams in the football game. But there are some people who tear down the Halloween decorations and immediately whip out the Christmas music and holiday fun.

To some, Christmas music and decorations immediately after Halloween is annoying, whereas to others, it’s the perfect time of the year to begin celebrating.

In the halls of Baldwin High School, one room was chosen to place their vote on if Christmas music was acceptable the day after Halloween. In the class of 17 students, nine said ‘Yes! Play that Christmas music!’ and eight said ‘No way! Way too soon.’ This gives the upper hand to the Christmas enthusiasts in BHS, but only by a small percent.

“No way. Playing Christmas music right after Halloween is way too soon,” Senior Tyler Courtney said. “The earlier you play it, the sooner it becomes annoying.”

Senior Ari Mihesuah agreed with Courtney.

“If you play Christmas music right after Halloween, it becomes too much and you’ll be too tired of it when Christmas actually does come around,” Mihesuah said.

The Christmas enthusiasts were quick to argue back with the holiday scrooges as Leyena Watson stated her opinion loud and proud.

“Christmas music is awesome,” Watson said. “I love it and it makes me feel happy.”

Senior Forrest Young agreed with Watson’s statement and also said it makes him feel happy and he enjoys being in the holiday spirit early.

Emma Grossner was on the Christmas early side of the spectrum as she gave her opinion as well.

“I love Christmas,” Grossner said. “It’s never too early to start celebrating and we should celebrate all year.”

So if you’re an early holiday scrooge, grab your ear muffs and muffle out the sound, because it sounds like here at Baldwin, the Holiday enthusiasts are excited for the holiday season already and they will play their Christmas music loud and proud while they ‘Deck the Halls’ of Baldwin High School.
