There is so much going on at BHS right now, from sports to the musical and clubs. But beyond all of these exciting activities, something even more significant is happening within the school community. Housefires, a student-led Bible study, has become a powerful movement at BHS. This group began at the start of summer and has continued to grow, inspiring students such as senior Raquelle Heck.
Heck said her thoughts about Housefires and how she loves to see her friends’ faith grow.
“I love Housefires,” Heck said. “I think it’s really cool to see all my friends give their lives to Christ. I love that everyone is so welcoming, and that it’s multi marking our school a better place. It is amazing to just see God move through the school. Our goal is to reach out to everyone we can.”
Since Housefires began at the school, many students have seen noticeable changes that have taken place at BHS. Sophomore Kage Blair is one of the students that has witnessed this change at BHS.
“Yes, the school has changed so much,” Blair said. “Everyone is so much happier and nicer. It’s just amazing to see how God is working through the school.”
One of the people who started Housefires is senior Irelyn Kennedy. This leader initially began Housefires as a small group, but it has since grown into a large and vibrant community.
“My friends and I just experienced God in such a radical way that we wanted to share that with others because God loves all of His children,” Kennedy said. “We wanted Housefires to be more chill and less structured than a traditional church. I think before Housefires, I would have never guessed I’d be friends with so many of the people I am now. I really feel a sense of closeness in the school, and it’s just really cool.”
Housefires has had up to 80 people at almost every Bible study and hopes to continue to grow.
