Juniors win locker decorating competition

The week of Homecoming is a time for students to show their school spirit. One of many traditions that take place during Homecoming week is locker decorating.

So why is locker decorating such a big part of Homecoming?

“StuCo believes that it is important for the classes to have time to come together and work toward a goal,” sponsor Danielle Balsman said. “The fact that it is a competition is just part of the fun. We chose locker decorating because we feel like the decor adds more excitement to the week.”

Student Council sponsors the locker decorating each year. Class officers are in charge of each classes. The theme of this year’s locker decorating was “Be heroes of BHS.” Each class had a different superhero, seniors were Batman, juniors were Spiderman, sophomores were Superman and the freshmen were Captain America.

Many students participate in locker decorating to help out their Stuco leaders.

“It was so fun,” sophomore and Stuco member Emma Burnett said. “Everyone was so much fun to work with. It was disappointing that we got fourth, but we will come back and win next year.”

Teachers have opinions about locker decorating too.

“The freshmen class has shown some strong dedication this year during the food drive, so I think they have a good shot,” Balsman said. “But, with that said, some classes will surprise you with their creativity.”

Locker decorating took place on Sept. 30, the start of Homecoming week. The class that got first place were the juniors, seniors got second, freshmen third, and sophomores fourth.
