So you enjoy singing, what do you like about singing?

“I like that we call all come together as a people and do something for the common cause.”

Did you go to Mrs. Buffum for the solo or did she come to you?

“It was mutual, she asked people who were interested to stand up. So I guess you could say I came to her.”

How long did you prepare for the solo?

“I practiced for 3 days before the actual audition, where she right afterwards chose who got to sing which solos. Because there were 3 options a high one, a medium one, and a low one and I got the high one.

Were you nervous?

“During the concert my palms were sweaty at first I held the microphone too far from my face so you couldn’t really hear me at all. But after that and after the solo had ended I think I recovered and was able to do the rest of the piece reasonably well.”

How did it feel to be at the center of attention or being the the only one singing?

“Its pretty nerve racking honestly. But you feel the support of the whole choir, so it feels pretty good once you’re done, people complimenting you and saying you did a good job. So it feels pretty good overall.”
