The welcoming arms of BHS have taken in multiple new teachers this year. These additions to the staff are sure to add diversity to the 2016 school year.

Becky Weaver, the new art teacher and BHS Art Club sponsor, is excited to return to her own high school after teaching K-12 art classes in Osage City.

“This is where I went to high school, “ Weaver said, “So it’s weird but mostly pretty cool to be back.

Art is not the only subject to receive a new teacher this year. Along with multiple new paraeducators, English and Science common core teachers have been hired at Baldwin High School.

The new english teacher, Michaela Bristow, teaches Freshman English, Modern Literature, and American Literature. This is her second year teaching after spending a year at Warren Middle School in Leavenworth, where she taught eighth grade Language Arts as well as coaching women’s soccer.

“The students are fun,” Bristow said, “The staff is supportive, and I enjoy the diversity of classes.”

Rob McKim, the principal of Baldwin High School, is very excited about the new additions to BHS.

I really like the group that we have this year, individually and collectively. They bring some unique experiences and fresh ideas,” McKim said.

In the time McKim has been at BHS he has met many students and teachers. He is optimistic that the new teachers will enjoy the school as much as he believes the school will enjoy them.
“We are blessed with more than our fair share of really good people, good students, and they get the opportunity to work with those students on a day to day basis, so that’s what they’re going to enjoy the most.” McKim said.
