Powder Puff a Fun Tradition at BHS

For 12 years Powder Puff has been a tradition for Baldwin High School. Powder Puff is a way for each class to get Class Cup Points. This is for at the end of the year to see who has the most points and gets to go to Worlds of Fun. Powder Puff is also a great way to bond with one another. It is what makes the students do it again the next year.

“Absolutely I am doing it this year,” sophomore Isabel Tiller said. “It’s a fun way to bond with not only your grade, but with the school as well.”

Powder Puff in 2015 was one to remember for the class of 2019, with them being the first freshmen class to win the Powder Puff tournament. Tiller kicked the winning field goal last year when the score was tied 14-14. The feeling of making these memories during high school is one of the reasons Powder Puff is played.

“Memories were definitely made last year during Powder Puff,” Tiller said. “I remember after I kicked the winning field goal our coach, Quinn Nichols, threw his visor in the air and everybody ran to me. I won’t forget that. I was so happy.”

For the new freshman class, they will have a great idea of what to expect for this year’s tournament. They have heard from many students that it’s a fun weekend to have with your friends.

“Everyone has said that it is really fun,” freshman Olivia Lange said. “It is a great way to meet new people.”
Many students participate in Powder Puff. Almost all the students say this was a great way to create high school memories with the students around them. They will look back on the time they played Powder Puff with their class.
