Track season is in full swing with the first meet right around the corner at home on April 2. The girls team has taken home numerous state 4A championships throughout the years under the coaching of Ted Zuzzio, including the past two years. High expectations still remain for this year and the team members are full of energy and high hopes for themselves as well.

“Personally, and as I team we have high expectations, but I don’t have a single doubt that once we all get in the rhythm of things that we won’t accomplish or exceeded those goals,” junior Carlyn Cole said.

Cole is also a runner on the highly successful 4×400-meter relay and expects to come back this year beating last years personal best time.

The 4×800-meter relay is another relay with lots of success and two members of it shared their predictions for the year.

“This year we lost two of our runners but all the distance runners are capable of doing excellent on it so it shouldn’t be a problem,” junior Addie Dick said.

Junior Fayth Peterson had a similar opinion as well.

“We have always done really good and I have no doubt that we will do just as good this year too,” Peterson said.

The only senior, female distance runner Emma Grossner is full of excitement and enthusiasm about the season.

“I’m super excited for the meets to roll around. I love my team and can’t wait to see every one succeed. It’s going to be a blast,” she said.

With a team full of this much enthusiasm, they are sure to have major success this year. Be sure to watch the team run, jump, and throw at Liston Stadium in Baldwin City on April 2.
