Softball starts season with split at Burlingame

Baldwin began its second season under head coach Chad Scoby. They traveled to Burlingame and took a win out of the double-header.

“I liked the way we kept fighting in the first game, we gave away a lot of outs on routine plays and helped them extend a few rallies,” Scoby said.

Burlingame won 8-6 in the first game, but Baldwin fought back to win the second game 14-2. Softball has one senior in Johnson County signee Hailey Cope and 15 freshmen out of 25 players.

“We bounced back to get a win in the second game, We had a lof of errors in all facets of the game. The girls know they didn’t play their best and we have plenty to improve on. On the positive side, we had some young girls play well in their first varsity action and we hit the ball in both games, the ball just found their players better in game one,” Scoby said

Baldwin’s next game will be a their home opener against DeSoto on Thursday, April 3, at 4:30 p.m.
