The Top Five Worst Christmas Presents

The Top Five Worst Christmas Presents

Everyone has received a Christmas present that we’ve had to pretend we love. We we’re forced to slap on a fake smile and thank Grandma for the awesome sweater, the same sweater that still sits on the top shelf of our closet covered in a thick layer of dust. So in honor of these awkward moments that we all feel at one Christmas or another, I have created a list of the top five worst Christmas presents to receive. With number five being the least horrible and ending with number one as the all time worst.

#5.) Infomercial gifts– Everyone knows that aisle in drugstores that you can easily run down, grab an incredibly impersonal gift, and dash back out. They often break or rip after the first use and it’s always something impractical that you’ll forget about within the first week. Clearly a last minute gift for that cousin you forgot existed.

#4.) Too big clothing- No one wants to receive clothing that is way too big. It just makes us think “Really? Is that how big I look to you?” then we have to keep it in our closet as a daily reminder. If you’re going to buy clothing, always go with the smaller size and please have the decency to give us the receipt so we can return it for a bigger size.

#3.) Cheap Candles- Candles are nice and smell wonderful but they don’t make the most exciting gift, especially for a teenager. Giant candles from stores like ‘Bath and Body Works’ are the exception because you can personalize these by buying them one in their favorite scent. But ones from the ‘Dollar Tree’ have very vague scents and it’s obvious they just didn’t know what to get you.

#2.) Plain White Socks- While white socks are a practical gift they are also the most boring gift to ever receive. No one wants to receive a gift like this on Christmas when you can go out and buy yourself a pair any regular day. If you must buy socks for someone I suggest at least getting ones with a pattern or fuzzy socks. Anything would be better than boring white socks.

#1.) Fruitcake- The all-time worst Christmas gift is the horrible fruitcake. A perfectly good cake that was ruined by adding disgusting specks of candied or dried fruits. It’s the go to gift in all of the cheesy Christmas movies that always occupy ABC Family during the holidays. Everyone knows what a fruitcake is and almost everyone who’s eaten one has hated it.
