The bi-annual Veterans Night at BHS was during halftime of the football game on Oct. 17. The Patriots Club held a night dedicated to those who have served and those who are serving in the military from our community. This event happens every other year and has been an important community event since it first started. Junior Cody Latham president of the Patriots Club was happy with the outcome.

“We had about 30-40 veterans show up,” Latham said. “The first time we held it we had twice as many, but that was before I was in high school.”

The Patriots Club has been planning this event since their first meeting in September.

“Most of the planning was just the officers finalizing details with Mrs. Sigvaldson,” Latham said. “Basically we had to contact all the veterans that had attended before, put out flyers in local businesses, and get the word out.”

BHS for Vets happens every other year, although Latham would like to see it become an annual event in the future. The night was very successful and educational for the students.

“I think the night went very well,” Latham said. “The veterans were engaged and we had many chat with us after the game.”
