Many Baldwin students rely on school lunches for their primary meal. With the holidays quickly approaching, Director of Transportation Tracy Rockers organized a food drive for the long winter break.

“Some kids depend on school lunches [so I wanted to help] parents get enough food for the break,” Rockers said.

All of the bus drivers participated in this event.

“Even some of the drivers donated,” Rockers said.

They began collecting on Monday, Dec.12.

“We handed out fliers on Friday,” Rockers said. “Our goal was to collect at least one can from all one thousand bus riders.”

The bus riders were very generous.

“Some families bring something every day,” Rockers said. “[We originally requested] canned food because it’s easier to carry.”

The food drive has only been going on for four days and has so far been a success.
