Students share Christmas traditions

This time of year comes with loads of stress, gifts and most importantly joy. With Christmas fast approaching, Baldwin High School’s students are preparing for finals while still managing to get into the holiday spirit.

Some students travel far to be able to celebrate Christmas with friends and family, some do not even leave Baldwin.

“Every year on Christmas morning we leave to go to my grandparents house in Branson. It’s pretty cool to be able to hang out with all of my cousins and family and for us all to be together on Christmas day,” sophomore Parker Wilson said.

Every family has a different way of celebrating Christmas and sometimes this comes with fun family traditions. For example, junior Riley O’Rourke always gets together with her family and eats brunch on Christmas day.

“Every year my family and I have breakfast for lunch at my grandparents house and I love this because it’s something different and I get to spend time with my family and enjoy good food at the same time,” O’Rourke said.

BHS sophomore Garrett Owings’s family also has a family Christmas tradition.

“We go to my grandma’s in Wellsville and we always shovel off the driveway and we play a game of basketball,” Owings said.

Christmas is a big part in some students and teachers lives. Christmas is also a great time and a good opportunity to raise money and earn donations for some of BHS’s clubs including club Stand Up to Cancer.

“This is only our second year and it is a great opportunity for us to interact with our community and raise cancer awareness,” Stand Up to Cancer vice president Phillip Carroll said.

Students not only spend the holidays with family but also with friends.
“I have a friend from out of town who comes to town every Christmas. I like spending time with her,” sophomore Cheyanne Daniels said.
