The generation has taken back the liking for the superhero and fantasy genre. Adventure and escape is all the rage for 2012. Big actors are cast in each of these films as well as new, unkown, that are sure to surprise viewers.

Top 10 upcoming movies of 2012

  1. “The Dark Knight Rises”: Director Christopher Nolan returns with the sequel to The Dark Night. The story is set eight years after the events of “The Dark Knight” and terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City forcing the city’s former hero, Batman, to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.
  2. “The Avengers”: Joss Whedon remakes the classic film, “The Avengers.” To help save the earth from Loki & his various membered army, Nick Fury and the international agency, S.H.I.E.L.D., bring together a team of super humans, forming The Avengers.
  3. “The Hobbit”: An Unexpected Journey: Part one of the epic fantasy series, The Hobbit, introduces Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit who journeys to the Lonely Mountain accompanied by a group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure taken from them by the dragon Smaug.
  4. “Hunger Games”: Futuristic Sci-Fi film about the annual selecting of a boy and girl being selected from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television. Katniss Everdeen, the main character, volunteers herself in her sisters place and now must make impossible choices in the arena to return home.
  5. “Prometheus”: A team of explorers discover a clue leading them to the origins of mankind on Earth that take them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
  6. “The Amazing Spiderman”: Director Marc Webb remakes the classic adventure of Spider-Man starting the story over with teenager Peter Parker who obtains the amazing super-human features from a spider bite.
  7. “Skyfall”: Bond is back with a new story where his loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 becomes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost may be.
  8. “John Carter”: Disney introduces the story of a Civil War vet is sent to Mars where he discovers the lush planet inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter a princess who is in desperate need of a savior.
  9. “Gravity”: Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star in the Sci-Fi film about a lone survivor of a space mission sent to repair the Hubble telescope, desperately trying to return to Earth and reunite with her daughter.
  10. “The Great Gatsby”: Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, Midwesterner Nick Carraway finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his Long Island neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Becoming close with Gatsby’s circle, he begins to witness obsession and tragedy.
